InfoExpress Named 'Cool Vendor' by Leading Analyst Firm
Vendor Selection Based on Innovation, Market Impact and Intrigue
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (March 29, 2004) — InfoExpress,
Inc., has been included in a list of "Cool Vendors" in the March
8 "Cool Vendors in Security and Privacy" report by Gartner, Inc.
InfoExpress was cited for its CyberGatekeeper platform, a solution
designed to ensure that end users' PCs and other systems have
up-to-date security utilities before allowing them to access the
enterprise network.
The Gartner report highlights 11 vendors that are developing technologies
to protect against new or upcoming security threats, and leveraging
those technologies to deliver real-world business value. It was
authored by R. Wagner, V. Wheatman, A. Allan, K. Noakes-Fry, A.
Hallowell, J. Pescatore, R. Mogull, J. Girard, R. Stiennon and L.
Orans.
"We consider this recognition by Gartner to be confirmation
of the need to add scan and block capabilities to the network edge,"
said Stacey Lum, CEO of InfoExpress. "A single non-compliant
device can infect a whole network, and this validates the need to
enforce configurations at network access points."
CyberGatekeeper automatically quarantines any PC, PDA or other
device with outdated, misconfigured, unauthorized or missing security
configurations, such as anti-virus programs and personal firewalls;
or with instant message, spyware and peer-to-peer software applications
not permitted by corporate policy. This prevents trojans, malware
and other vulnerabilities from reaching the LAN through non-compliant
devices.
Users whose devices have been refused network access are directed
to a Web page where necessary patches and software updates can be
installed with a few clicks, allowing business activities continue
with virtually no interruption.
About Gartner's Cool Vendors Selection Process
Gartner's listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of
vendors in any given technology area, but rather is designed to
highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and
services. Gartner disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied,
with respect to this research, including any warranties of merchantability
or fitness of a particular purpose.
Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies
or solutions that are innovative, enabling users to do things they
couldn't do before; impactful, having or will have business impact
(not just technology for the sake of technology); and intriguing,
having caught Gartner's interest or curiosity in approximately the
past six months.
