InfoExpress Upgrades CyberGatekeeper LAN To Add Wireless Support,
Broadening Network Protection against Infection by End User Devices
New Version 3.0 To Ship in August

LAS VEGAS (NetWorld+Interop, May 11, 2004) — InfoExpress, Inc., today announced the upcoming release of CyberGatekeeper LAN 3.0, a new edition of its network access control solution designed to safeguard enterprise networks from infection by PCs and other end user systems with outdated security utilities. Version 3.0 will add support for wireless computing devices, enabling network administrators to manage both wired and wireless systems through a single administrative interface.

CyberGatekeeper LAN blocks network access for end user devices that lack up-to-date security utilities such as anti-virus programs and otherwise fail to comply with corporate-mandated policies. Non-compliant systems are quarantined and remediated before allowing access to the network. This strategy ensures that Trojans, malware and other vulnerabilities cannot reach the LAN through PCs, PDAs or other devices that fail to maintain current security software.

The system can be configured to automatically patch or update devices that have been refused network access, or to direct users to a Web page where necessary fixes can be installed with a few clicks. This ensures that networks remain secure while business activities continue with virtually no interruption.

The product can be used in conjunction with CyberGatekeeper Remote, InfoExpress’ network access control solution for remote users, to protect networks from access points. This includes users who access the corporate network via VPNs, extranets and dial-up connections as well as via wired and wireless LAN clients and servers.

"A secure network should allow access only to known and compliant systems. If a user neglects to stay current with patches and software updates, or deliberately disables an application, the security infrastructure should not fall apart," said Stacey Lum, CEO of InfoExpress. "CyberGatekeeper LAN is the first solution to solve the problem for users working on-site, eliminating lost productivity and lost business that can be caused by computer downtime."

Other advantages of CyberGatekeeper LAN include:

  • Complete policy flexibility, making it possible to check end user system configurations for operating system versions and unauthorized instant message, spyware and peer-to-peer software as well as anti-virus programs, virus signature files and personal firewalls.
  • Strict enforcement, ensuring that users cannot circumvent the system by removing or failing to install the client software.
  • Ongoing compliance, because systems are checked every time a user requests network access.
  • Control over systems belonging to business consultants, business partners and other external users who connect to the corporate network when they are on site, as well as over PCs and other devices used by corporate employees.
  • The ability to identify and disable unauthorized network devices such as wireless access points, proxies or NAT devices.
  • The ability to operate with an organization’s existing network equipment without requiring costly upgrades or replacements to hardware or software already in use.

The product provides central policy management from an administrator console, is scalable to support hundreds of thousands of concurrent users, and permits rapid integration into an organization’s existing security infrastructure because of a vendor-neutral architecture enabling use with any third-party personal firewall, antivirus program and/or VPN client.

Specifications and Pricing
CyberGatekeeper LAN consists of two software components — CyberGatekeeper Policy Manager and CyberGatekeeper Agent client software — and the CyberGatekeeper Server rackmount appliance. CyberGatekeeper Policy Manager runs on Windows NT 4.0 or 2000. CyberGatekeeper Agent is available in Windows 98/ME/NT 4.0/2000/XP, Linux, and Web (clientless) versions. CyberGatekeeper Server comes in two models that support up to 10,000 and 20,000 concurrent sessions per appliance, respectively. Prices begin at $9,995.
