InfoExpress and BigFix in Alliance to Protect Enterprise Networks
Partnership Gives Businesses Most Comprehensive Policy Enforcement Solution for Managing Network Vulnerabilities and Security

INFORMATION SECURITY DECISIONS CONFERENCE, CHICAGO, ILL., October 7, 2004 — InfoExpress, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise network security solutions, today announced it has entered into a technology alliance with BigFix, Inc., a leading provider of vulnerability and security configuration management solutions, to integrate its flagship CyberGatekeeper solution with the BigFix Enterprise Suite (BES). Part of the BigFix Assess, Remediate, Connect (ARC) Program, also announced this week, the combined InfoExpress-BigFix integrated policy enforcement solution offers businesses the most comprehensive policy enforcement solution for managing security and vulnerabilities in their networks, giving them greater flexibility, control and protection.

The integrated solution ties together industry-leading "scan and block" technology from InfoExpress with the most effective remediation system available today. InfoExpress and BigFix applied the BigFix Client Compliance API to co-engineer the ability to dynamically determine the degree of endpoint security policy compliance. The combination ensures that all network endpoints are fully scanned, audited against the enterprise security policy, quarantined if deemed non-compliant and then remedied and allowed network access, all in a matter of seconds and completely transparent to end users.

The joint InfoExpress-BigFix solution will be offered later this year, with the first public demonstrations planned for the Computer Security Institute's 31st Annual Computer Security Conference and Exhibition in Washington D.C., November 8-10.

"IT organizations are trapped in a never-ending battle to control access to their networks by both known and unrecognized computers, and need a way to strictly enforce their enterprise security policies and quarantine these systems until they have been checked and brought into compliance, if necessary," said Todd Nakano, executive vice president for InfoExpress. "We provide that control by combining CyberGatekeeper's enforcement and quarantine capabilities with BigFix's remediation engine to create a one-of-a-kind solution that seeks out and identifies vulnerabilities and misconfigurations, quarantines non-compliant systems and remediates threats automatically on a granular level in real-time."

"The BigFix Assess, Remediate, Connect Program was created to develop cooperative solutions that ensure that no endpoint system will gain access to an enterprise network before it complies with all corporate security policies and best-practice standards," said Gregory Toto, vice president of product management at BigFix. "We're excited to be working with industry leaders like InfoExpress to develop more complete endpoint security solutions that ensure enforcement of these critical security policies and practices."

"IT organizations are looking to take their vulnerability and security configuration management systems to the next level," said Lawrence Orans, principal analyst at Gartner, Inc. "An integrated approach between vendors is an excellent way for companies to combine their specific technologies to create a broader, more comprehensive solution to address this need."

CyberGatekeeper hardens the existing network by only giving access to compliant systems and keeping dangerous systems out. Non-compliant systems are automatically quarantined until remediation brings them back into compliance. Unlike endpoint enforcement solutions, CyberGatekeeper restricts access for all non-compliant systems, even those without the agent or client software.

BES is a flexible, secure, agent-based platform that provides real-time inspection and highly targeted, real-time identification and remediation of vulnerability and configuration issues on an enterprise scale. BES enables the management of configurations across the largest multiplatform networks, supporting up to 75,000 individual Microsoft Windows, Linux, Macintosh OS X and UNIX computers from just a single BES server. The BES platform provides the foundation for the BigFix suite of ready-to-deploy solutions for patch management, client anti-virus management, and vulnerability identification.
