InfoExpress and Funk Software Partner on Standards-Based
Network Access Control Solution
Companies Demonstrate Interoperability Based on Trusted Computing
Group Standards
NETWORLD+INTEROP, LAS VEGAS, Nev., May 4, 2005
— Expanding its roster of interoperable network infrastructure
solutions, InfoExpress, the leader in network access control solutions,
and Funk Software, a leading provider of network access security
solutions, today announced interoperability between the InfoExpress
CyberGatekeeper® endpoint security solution and Funk Software’s
Steel-Belted Radius® and Odyssey® Client standards-based,
endpoint integrity solutions. The joint solution allows an enterprise
network manager to determine the level of security and "safe-computing"
policy compliance of hosts, and peripheral devices seeking to attach
to a network – by performing the granular integrity check
in tandem with user authentication before the host is granted access
to the network, and isolating non-compliant devices – and
significantly minimizes network downtime caused by these threats
to network security.
The joint InfoExpress/Funk Software solution is being demonstrated
at each company’s kiosk in the Trusted Computing Group booth
at NetWorld+Interop.
The joint InfoExpress/Funk Software solution is based on the endpoint
integrity standards developed by the Trusted Computing Group in
its Trusted Network Connect (TNC) subgroup, which is dedicated to
defining and promoting an open solution architecture to ensure endpoint
integrity. This standards-based approach permits interoperability
across a wide variety of existing vendor offerings and ensures scalability
to future technologies. The two companies collaborated to create
an Integrity Measurement Collector (IMC) and an Integrity Measurement
Verifier (IMV), according to the TNC specifications, that allow
their solutions to work together.
"The close cooperation and interoperability achieved by
InfoExpress and Funk Software means our joint customers can realize
the benefits of an integrated, pervasive network access control
today with their existing network infrastructure," said Todd
Nakano, executive vice president for InfoExpress. "We look
forward to working with Funk Software to provide innovative solutions
enterprises can quickly and easily deploy to protect their networks
from inappropriate access."
"Funk Software is committed to providing its customers with
best-of-breed solutions to manage and enforce their network access
security policies, and by partnering with InfoExpress we give our
customers another way to enhance and ensure the security of their
networks," said Joe Ryan, vice president of Funk Software.
"Together with InfoExpress we can provide our customers with
the sophisticated control and protection they need to ensure that
only policy compliant devices will access their networks."
The joint InfoExpress/Funk Software solution comprises the following
components:
- InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper, scans and audits all endpoints
against the enterprise security policy to assess endpoint compliance,
and grants network access to compliant systems. Non-compliant
systems, even those without the client software, are automatically
quarantined until remediation brings them into compliance.
- Steel-Belted Radius/Endpoint Assurance server, which works
with Funk Software’s RADIUS server Steel-Belted Radius,
authenticates users, performs or brokers the integrity check against
the InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper’s policy assessment server
via the Integrity Measurement Verifier, and grants access to the
network according to the result of the integrity check.
- Funk Software’s 802.1X supplicant Odyssey Client with
Endpoint Assurance plug-in, lets a user request access to the
network, passing not only login credentials but security information
about the endpoint gathered by the InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper
agent via the Integrity Measurement Collector.
TCG is an industry standards body formed to develop, define, and
promote open standards for trusted computing and security technologies,
including hardware building blocks and software interfaces, across
multiple platforms, peripherals, and devices. TCG specifications
are designed to enable more secure computing environments without
compromising functional integrity with the primary goal of helping
users to protect their information assets from compromise due to
external software attack and physical theft.
