Ulster Savings Bank Adopts InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper to Secure Corporate Network
InfoExpress and Foundry Networks Help Banks to Secure and Manage Access to Corporate Assets

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 13, 2006 –InfoExpress, the leader in policy and configuration enforcement solutions, announced today that Ulster Savings Bank, an institution providing banking, insurance, tax and financial services to the state of New York since 1851, is using InfoExpress’ CyberGatekeeper to secure its network from intrusion.  Using CyberGatekeeper with Foundry Networks switches, Ulster can continually monitor for unauthorized endpoints and immediately isolate them from the rest of the network until they are compliant with Ulster’s security policies.

"With InfoExpress’ CyberGatekeeper integrated into our network, we have created a superior level of network security and visibility,” said Jim Hochstatter, vice president of technology at Ulster Savings Bank.  "CyberGatekeeper gives us the ability to verify that every machine talking to our network is compliant and allows us to avoid dangerous rogue machines that can get in and damage corporate assets.”

With CyberGatekeeper agents installed on corporate owned endpoints, Ulster can audit for anything on these devices and effectively monitor employee access to get a better understanding of who is accessing what information and protect against internal intrusion.  InfoExpress’ CyberGatekeeper ensures every machine accessing Ulster’s network is authorized to do so by utilizing an agent key on each device to track all access points.  Ulster’s network is based on an 802.1x environment with Foundry switches and integrated with InfoExpress’ CyberGatekeeper.

“Deployment of the InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper Server and Agent was seamless and integrated easily utilizing 802.1x Authentication and Microsoft IAS into Ulster Savings Bank’s current network, server and desktop environment,” said Jeff Jones, managing partner for Topgallant Partners, a New England based technology services company that is InfoExpress’ channel partner for the Ulster solution.  “CyberGatekeeper provides real-time policy enforcement, but most importantly provides Ulster Savings clear visibility into the end-user’s desktop which in most organizations today is fuzzy at best.”

According to Hochstatter, CyberGatekeeper’s ease of deployment - including very minimal infrastructure changes - and seamless integration were key criteria in choosing the right Network Access Control (NAC) solution.  CyberGatekeeper brought additional flexibility and simplicity in terms of client software installation, configuration and ongoing administration.  CyberGatekeeper also provides the bank with the ability to standardize on new builds and ensure they are compliant with the rest of the network.

“Protecting internal networks and corporate assets is essential for financial institutions,” said Stacey Lum, CEO of InfoExpress.  “CyberGatekeeper ensures non-compliant endpoint threats are detected, quarantined and remediated before granting access to the enterprise network to ensure a more secure and updated network environment.”
