EL PASO CORPORATION SELECTS INFOEXPRESS CYBERGATEKEEPER AND CYBERARMOR TO HELP SECURE CORPORATE ENDPOINTS

InfoExpress Delivers Network Access Control Solution to One of the Largest Suppliers of Natural Gas in the United States

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., October 25, 2006 — InfoExpress, the leader in policy and configuration enforcement solutions, announced today that El Paso Corporation has selected InfoExpress’ CyberGatekeeper and CyberArmor to help prevent malware and non-compliant endpoints from reaching its network.

El Paso Corporation is one of the largest providers of natural gas and related energy products in North America.  With the largest North American pipeline, 55,500 miles of total pipeline, and one-third of the U.S.’ daily throughput, El Paso Corporation provides vital resources to customers throughout the country.  As safety and security are top priorities for the company, El Paso Corporation sought a centrally managed solution that could enforce corporate policy to endpoints while simultaneously integrating with its strong personal firewall in order to protect end users while they were away from the office.

“A major initiative for us was to implement a system that could inspect a client before it had a chance to connect to the network,” said Fred Norwood, Director of Computer Operations for El Paso Corporation.  “The combination of CyberGatekeeper and CyberArmor has bolstered our security posture and given us confidence that non-compliant endpoints cannot connect to and damage our network. This is in line with the strict network security and enforcement strategy of the company.”
CyberGatekeeper audits all networked systems continuously for policy compliance. Unqualified systems attempting to access the network are automatically blocked and redirected for remediation.  CyberArmor is a centrally managed enterprise personal firewall solution that protects end user systems from network attacks. It is fully customizable and supports environmentally sensitive policies that dynamically change based on user activities. CyberArmor also offers granular control over system activity and network traffic to ensure maximum protection at all times, whether a user connects from the corporate network, over wireless, or over a dial-up.
“Mobile workers, suppliers and partners can present a huge security challenge to large organizations like El Paso Corporation,” said Todd Nakano, executive vice president for InfoExpress.  “Traditionally it’s been very difficult to police remote users to make sure they’re following corporate security policy.  The CyberArmor solution ensures that remote users are protected from threats while away from the office, while CyberGatekeeper grants network access only to endpoints that are clean and adhering to corporate security policy.”

The InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper network access control solution uses an organization's existing network infrastructure to block network access for wired, wireless and remote endpoint devices that have outdated, unauthorized, misconfigured or missing security utilities, such as anti-virus programs and personal firewalls, or otherwise fail to comply with corporate-mandated security policies. Non-compliant systems are quarantined and remediated before being allowed access to the network, ensuring that viruses, worms, Trojans and other malware and vulnerabilities cannot adversely affect the network through PCs, laptops, PDAs and other devices that fail to comply with current security policies.
