Tripos Deploys InfoExpress’ NAC Solution to Safeguard its’ Network Infrastructure
Ensures Remote Computers Conform to Security Policy Prior to Getting Network Access
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., January 24, 2006 —InfoExpress, the leader in network access control solutions, today announced its flagship CyberGatekeeper family of products is being used by Tripos, Inc. (Nasdaq:TRPS), a leading provider of drug discovery chemistry and informatics products and services, to ensure the safety of endpoint connections to the enterprise network by the company’s workforce. Tripos combined InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper Remote endpoint policy enforcement with CyberArmor enterprise-level personal firewall to provide a solution with the breadth, quality and flexibility required to handle the firms growing and changing security requirements.
Like many businesses, Tripos embraced mobile computing years ago so employees could access the network from remote offices, customer sites, hotels, homes and other locations. The challenge was to incorporate security technologies to make sure remote access connections were safe. The Tripos team determined that they needed to ensure that mobile user machines were infection-free and met baseline security policy requirements, including a check to see that security methods put in place had not been altered or disabled by the end user, before being allowed access to the enterprise network.
“The InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper and CyberArmor solutions met our enterprise security requirements so closely, it’s almost as if InfoExpress has created them specifically for our needs,” said Jerry Wintrode, Sr., the network architect at Tripos. “While other companies were hit with worms that shut down email servers, we've been able to anticipate attacks and stop them in advance.”
According to Wintrode, CyberGatekeeper provides complete endpoint configuration visibility which has increased Tripos’ compliance scorecard.
“Tripos was keenly aware of the possibility that mobile workers might connect to untrusted networks and of the disparity mobile systems often exhibit over time between the desired security policies and their actual conformity, which can quickly lead to infections and vulnerabilities that can be exploited,” said Todd Nakano, executive vice president for InfoExpress. “Preventing these threats from reaching the enterprise network is a serious concern, and is the primary goal of our CyberGatekeeper solution.”
CyberGatekeeper audits all remote access endpoints continuously for policy compliance. Unqualified systems attempting to access the network are automatically blocked and redirected for remediation.
CyberArmor is an endpoint firewall solution. It is fully customizable and environmentally sensitive, adjusting its policies dynamically to ensure maximum protection at all times, whether a user connects directly to the corporate network, over a wireless link, or over a VPN connection.
